GenderSchmender, a collective committed to creating events that support tranz, queer and genderqueer artists and communities presents:

Tranz-Perve Formance: a night of film and spoken word that celebrates and supports the diversity of our communities and busts open the gender closet. Including: Third Antenna: a doco about the radical nature of drag and readings from a mixed array of talents including Joan Nestle, John Stevens, Alice PJ Fortias and more.

GenderSchmender commits to creating spaces that flout all the rules- there will be no checking of gender or sexuality passports at the door and excessive amounts of pink dollars will not be required. This is a fundraiser event that will help us produce further nights that embrace a diversity of artforms, from performance and spoken word to film, DJs and visual art. The events will be openly politicized, promoting tranz/queer/genderqueer campaigns within a broader political context. Our response to some queer events’ exclusive door policies and mainstream gay events and organisations’failure to include the many members of queer communities, is to celebrate of the artistry of diverse genders and identities in an accessible and affordable style.
